BUFFALO, N.Y. – Returning home for an East Coast Conference matchup against RV Roberts Wesleyan University, the D'Youville University men's lacrosse team fell by a score of 17-3 Saturday evening.
The Saints (1-11, 0-3 ECC) had three players find the back of the net in
Carsyn Kent (Whitby, Ontario),
Suman Ramlall (Atlanta, Ga.), and
Brady Ruffalo (Webster, N.Y.).
Luciano Gonzalez (Coquitlam, British Columbia) also got in on the action, having an assist on the night.
Jordan Brown (Baltimore, Md.) led the team in groundballs with seven while
Ethan Lynch (Atlanta, Ga.) and
Logan Schwartz (Depew, N.Y.) each adding four groundballs. Schwartz was a menace on the defensive end, finishing with four caused turnovers to lead the team.
The Redhawks got the first goal of the game, but Gonzalez found Kent to get DYU in the scoring column at the 10:01 mark of the first quarter. RWU scored the next three goals before Ramlall made it a 4-2 game at the 10:18 mark of the second quarter. DYU's last goal came with 50 seconds left in the first half as Ruffalo scored to make it 9-3 going into the break.
William Nichols (Palmyra, N.Y.) went the distance in net, making 14 saves on the night.
The Saints will be back in action next Saturday, April 6th, for a nonconference matchup against Walsh University at 2 p.m.
