SPARKILL, N.Y. – Resuming East Coast Conference action, the D'Youville University men's lacrosse team fell to St. Thomas Aquinas College Sunday afternoon by a score of 9-2.
The Saints (1-10, 0-2 ECC) were led offensively by
Nick Sholett (Vestal, N.Y.) with two points (1 goal, 1 assist) while
Tristan Engelhardt (Orlando, Fla.) added the other goal.
Cameron Fogarty (Selinsgrove, Pa.) had a solid game defensively, grabbing five groundballs while causing three turnovers.
Facing a 3-0 deficit at the beginning of the second quarter, DYU got on the board when Sholett found Engelhardt for the man-up goal with 13:25 left until halftime. The Spartans were able to extend their lead before the break, adding three more goals to take the 6-1 lead into halftime.
Coming out of the break, STAC tacked on two more goals before Sholett found the back of the net with 11:15 remaining in regulation. The Spartans added one more goal to close out the game.
William Nichols (Palmyra, N.Y.) saw most of the action in net, making seven saves on the day.
The Saints will return home this Friday, March 29th, as they face Roberts Wesleyan University at 7 p.m.
