BUFFALO, N.Y. – Playing their second game in as many days, the D'Youville University women's lacrosse team fell to Dominican University by a score of 15-4 Sunday afternoon at Dobson Field.
The Saints (1-1) were led offensively by
Sam Newlin (Austin, Texas) and
Madison Buck (Rochester, N.Y.) with a pair of goals each while three players each contributed in the offensive effort with one assist apiece.
Lauren Parker (Syracuse, N.Y.) had a solid game in the starting circle, winning six draw controls.
Parker also led the defensive efforts with two groundballs and two caused turnovers.
The Chargers opened the contest by scoring the game's first five goals before
Sydney Gordon (Hamburg, N.Y.) found Newlin to get DYU on the board. Newlin would continue her strong weekend by breaking away to make it a 5-2 game at the 11:07 mark in the second quarter. Buck would help the Saints draw within two goals, scoring just minutes later off the assist from
Jillian Bernas (Cheektowaga, N.Y.). Dominican would get one back as they took a 6-3 lead into the break.
Out of halftime, D'Youville would add their final goal of the contest as
Madison Handley (Lancaster, N.Y.) found Buck for her second goal of the contest.
Brinn Stworzydlak (Hamburg, N.Y.) went the distance in net, making 13 saves.
The Saints will continue their five-game homestand to start the season as they take on Slippery Rock University at 2 p.m.
