Glinski Records Three-Hit Game, Saints Fall to #7 Millersville

GLENVILLE, WV – The D'Youville University baseball team faced #7 Millersville University on Friday, falling to the Marauders by a score of 5-2.

Millersville got on the board in the first inning after a fielding error by 3B Alec Boucher (Essex, Ontario) allowed a run to score. Starting pitcher Chris Auclair (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) was able to strike out the next two batters and strand runners at second and third. SS Billy Morris (Lancaster, N.Y.) picked up the Saints' first hit of the day in the bottom half with a line drive single to left, but he would be stranded at first.

In the top of the second, Auclair struck out the first two batters of the inning, but a bunt single and stolen base led to an RBI single to extend the Marauders lead to 2-0. C Jeremy Glinski (Sloan, N.Y.) drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the second, but was thrown out trying to steal second.

In the top of the fourth, Millersville tacked on two more runs thanks to a home run and throwing error from Glinski, which allowed a run to score. In the bottom half, the Saints threatened to cut into the Marauders' lead after Glinski smoked a double down the left field line and Boucher singled to left to move Glinski to third with two outs. However, Craig Oliver (Fredericton, New Brunswick) flew out to end the inning.

RHP Blaise Kolbert (Lancaster, N.Y.) came in to relieve Auclair in the top of the fifth and got a quick 1-2-3 inning. CF Jake Hollins (Orchard Park, N.Y.) led off the bottom of the fifth with a single to right field, but was unable to score.

In the top of the sixth, Millersville pushed across another run on a fielding error by Morris. In the bottom half, Glinski continued his torrid offensive start to the season with another double down the left field line and Morris and Boucher both drew walks to load the bases. Oliver pushed the Saints' first run across with a sacrifice fly to right. RF Hunter Nowak (Hamburg, N.Y.) then drew a bases loaded walk to make it 5-2.

In the bottom of the eighth, Glinski picked up his third hit of the day with a single to left. A balk advanced him to second and Hollins drew a walk to set up a scoring opportunity for the Saints, but Nowak struck out to end the threat.

RHP Connor Joedicke (Bloomville, N.Y.) pitched three scoreless innings and struck out three batters to keep the score at 5-2 heading to the bottom of the ninth. LF Ethan Hammond (Oakville, Ontario) and DH Alex Dzimian (Lakeview, N.Y.) both singled to lead off the ninth, but Millersville was able to retire the next three batters to secure the victory.

The Saints will be back in action on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. when they face West Chester University of Pennsylvania in Glenville, West Virginia.
