Men's Soccer Drops Game to Chestnut Hill

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The D'Youville University men's soccer team fell to Chestnut Hill College on Wednesday by a score of 3-0.

The Saints outshot the Griffins 22-17 with sophomore Ethan Robinson (Toronto, Ontario) leading DYU with five shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Matthew Solorio (Kansas City, Mo.) tallied six saves on nine shots faced.

Senior Sean Burke (Coventry, England) came excruciatingly close to getting the Saints on the board in the 12th minute, as his shot glanced off the woodwork. Burke saw another scoring chance in the 15th minute, as he got a shot on goal, but it was saved by the Griffins' goalkeeper.

Robinson got a pair of shots on goal in the 24th and 25th minute, but both were steered away by Chestnut Hill.

DYU continued to apply pressure on the Griffins' defense, as sophomore Finn Savage (Wrexham, Wales) put a shot on goal in the 33rd minute and freshman Shawn Richardson (Thailand, Sweden) put a shot on goal in the 36th minute, but both were saved, and the game went to halftime scoreless.

The game remained scoreless until the 55th minute, when Chestnut Hill capitalized on a scoring chance to go in front 1-0.

Robinson continued to get good looks at goal, as he fired off a couple shots in the 58th minute, but he couldn't convert either one.

The Griffins extended their lead to 2-0 in the 61st minute and added the final blow in the 78th minute to go up 3-0.

Freshman Omar Daoudi (South Burlington, Vt.) and graduate student Alex Khademi (Stockholm, Sweden) got looks at goal in the 80th minute, but neither could score.

The Saints fall to 2-7-2 with the loss and will return home for their Senior Day game on Saturday against ECC opponent Molloy University at 12:00 p.m.
