AMHERST, N.Y. – The D'Youville University Volleyball Team defeated ECC opponent Daemen University 3-2 on the road for the first time in program history.

Set One
The Saints took the 5-1 lead following kills from
Giselle Ramirez (Miami, FL / School for Advanced Studies) and
Cameron Ulinski (Parkland, FL / Marjory Stoneman Douglas) along with a service ace from
Emma Wlostowski (Alden, N.Y. / Alden). The Wildcats fought to stay in it, but D'Youville went on a 7-1 run to extend their lead to 12-6. The Saints reached 20 first at 20-14 and continued to climb until they took set one 25-18.
Set Two
The Saints kept their momentum going into set two and quickly found themselves ahead 10-8. Daemen fought their way back and tied the game as both teams fought to gain the lead. The Wildcats reached 21 with the Saints still at 18. Kills from Ulinski and
Madeline O'Brien (East Amherst, N.Y. / Clarence) kept the Saints close, but the Wildcats would take the second set 25-22.
Set Three
Daemen controlled the third set jumping out to a 9-5 lead before scoring eleven-in-a-row to go up 21-7. The Saints fought hard till the end, but the Wildcats would walk away with the second set at 25-11.
Set Four
The Wildcats again took the lead in the fourth set taking the 9-6 lead, but the Saints still had plenty of fight in them and tied the game at nine following a service ace from
Samantha Killane (Vero Beach, FL / Lincoln Park Academy). Daemen retook the lead, but the Saints put together a five-point run to jump ahead 16-14. Gameplay continued back and forth until the score tied at 25. A kill from
Alex Darby (Huntington, WV / Spring Valley) and a Wildcats error gave the Saints the 27-25 win to keep the Saints alive.
Set Five
The fifth set began even, but the Saints took the 7-4 lead and never looked back. Daemen got within tw as they trailed 12-10, but two errors from Daemen and a final service ace from
Emma Wlostowski gave the Saints the 15-10 win in set five and the 3-2 match win over the Daemen Wildcats.
