BUFFALO, N.Y. – The D'Youville University Men's Volleyball Team (1-0, 0-0) defeated the American International College Yellowjackets 3-0 on Friday night in the College Center.

Set One
D'Youville took off to a quick 9-6 lead. Back-to-back kills from Haven Wankerl (Cross Plains, Wisc. / Middleton) and Tymek Brzoza (Tychy, Poland / NLO Jastrzebski Wegiel) extended the Saints lead and as gameplay continued the Saints capitalized on Yellowjackets errors bringing the score to 20-12.

The Yellowjackets fought back, but the Saints would go on a five-point run to win the first set 25-16.

Set Two
The second set started out even with the teams tied at three. An error from the Yellowjackets and kills from Ethan Robinson (Toronto, Canada), Tymek Brzoza, and Spencer Boakye (Union, N.J. / Union) put the Saints up 7-3.
As gameplay continued, the Saints found themselves up 17-13, but the Yellowjackets worked to take the 19-18 lead. Wankerl came up big to tie the game at 19 and a Yellowjackets error followed by a service ace by Donnie Ernst (Hamburg, N.Y. / Frontier Central) put the Saints up by two. The Yellowjackets trailed 22-21, but the Saints dug in scoring the three final points of the set to win 25-21.

Set Three
Again, D'Youville jumped out to the early lead in set three, but the Yellowjackets found their footing scoring four in a row and jumping up 10-9. Both teams battled for the lead, but back-to-back kills from Ethan Robinson put the Saints up by two at 18-16.
The Yellowjackets brought the game to a tie at 20, but the Saints did not let their foot off the gas and scored the last four points of the to win the set 25-21 and take the match 3-0.

Saints Stats
Tymek Brzoza led the Saints offense with 11 kills and Haven Wankerl followed closely behind with 10. Randy Adorno (Bayamon Puerto Rico / Winter Park (Fla.)) locked up 33 assists while Spencer Boakye ha da strong defensive effort with three blocks.
