BUFFALO, N.Y. - The D'Youville University Women's Volleyball Team defeated the Roberts Wesleyan RedHawks 3-2 for their first ECC win of the season.

First Set
The RedHawks began with the lead in set one, but a kill from
Isabelle Prentice (Bainbridge, Wash. / Bainbridge) tied the game at three. The Saints managed to hold the lead until the RedHawks went on a five-point run. The Saints fought back but were unable to retake the lead and would lose the first set 25-16.
Second Set
The Saints bounced back in set 2 jumping out to a 6-2 lead
The Saints bounced back in set 2 jumping out to a 6-2 lead after a service ace from
Mitha Hatwar (Powell, Ohio / Olentangy Liberty). Roberts Wesleyan fought back, but the Saints could not be stopped. The RedHawks took the lead at 22-21, but a kill from
Giselle Ramirez (Miami, Fla. / School for Advanced Studies) tied it up. The set continued to go back and forth, but the final kill from Prentice gave the Saints the 26-24 win in set two.
Third Set
The Saints again jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in set three courtesy of two service aces by
Samantha Killane (Vero Beach, Fla. / Lincoln Park Academy) and kills from
Madeline O'Brien (East Amherst, N.Y.) and
Eve Musielak (Eden, N.Y./Eden). The RedHawks fought to stay in the game, but the Saints did not let up and took the 25-19 win.
Fourth Set
Roberts Wesleyan controlled the majority of the fourth set. With the RedHawks at 24-9, an attack error by the RedHawks and kills from
Samantha Killane and
Madeline O'Brien helped keep the game alive, but the RedHawks would go on to win 25-12.
Fifth Set
After losing the first point of the fifth set, the Saints came back strong starting with a kill from
Giselle Ramirez. The Saints went on to score four more in a row to take the 5-1 lead. Roberts Wesleyan managed to get two back, but three consecutive kills from O'Brien put the game at 8-3.
Switching sides of the court did not deter the Saints who kept their strong offense going. The game reached 13-8 and a kill from
Eve Musielak put the Saints at game point.
Isabelle Prentice delivered the final point of the game in a service ace to give the Saints the 15-8 win in set 5 and their first ECC win of the season.

The D'Youville University Women's Volleyball Team is back on the road next weekend for another ECC weekend. The Saints start on Friday, October 6
th at 7:00 pm against Dominican. They will then face off with St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday and finish off the weekend at Mercy on Sunday.
