BUFFALO, NY- The D'Youville University men's volleyball team dropped their conference match from the College Center Gym against the Pioneers of Sacred Heart University, 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 22-25, 19-25).

FIRST SET

• Things looked good for the Saints in this one but struggled with minimizing errors as for this set, they committed six of them, two more than what SHU had, 6-3.
•  Before heading into the media timeout with the score at 11-10 the Pioneers were gifted three errors that DYU made 15-13.
• From there on the Saints gathered four kills that put them in a good position down the stretch that help them earn a set win, 25-22.

SECOND SET

• Errors proved to be the Saints biggest enemy committing 15 errors over the course of the set that tampered with their ability to find any momentum.
• After the media timeout the Saints pursued a 4-0 run that placed them in a better spot to get back into the set making things all even, 16-16.
• Things were all tied up at 21-21 until the Pioneers found a way to score off of two kills that threw the Saints off as they made two errors that granted them their first win within the match, 25-23.

THIRD SET

• Just like the other sets this came down to the wire as neither team showed signs of backing down as numerous standstills were created out of this set in the early going.
• DYU jumped out to a 3-0 extension to their lead but shorty was taken from them as SHU got on a roll of five straight that helped gain the lead back in their favor, 17-15.
• Going forward on six kills recorded by the Pioneers helped established their win, 25-22.

FOURTH SET

• SHU wasted no time getting themselves situation in the set starting out strong with a 4-0 run put together at the start.
• The Saints recorded their highest amount of errors in the entire match with it being eight while SHU kept it down to four.
• DYU had difficulty making contact with the ball compiling a .036 hitting percentage that proved to make a difference in their efforts.
• In the later half after a SHU kill brought their lead out to as much as eight points being the largest of the set, 18-10 which made it difficult for DYU to develop any kind of footing in this affair with the end result being in favor of the Pioneers of Sacred Heart, 25-19.
