The match began with D'Youville facing an early challenge as the Sharks took the first point after an attack error. Despite a steady effort, D'Youville struggled to gain momentum, highlighted by
Ethan Robinson's (Scarborough, Ontario / Neil McNeil) kill at 3-5 that temporarily halted the Sharks' advance. D'Youville demonstrated resilience with a block by
Daniel Seymour (Belmore, N.Y. / John F. Kennedy) and Robinson, bringing the score to 9-16, but service errors and a series of the Sharks' aces widened the gap. The set concluded with D'Youville trailing 12-25.
D'Youville's efforts in the second period were highlighted by strong performances from
