Box Score BUFFALO, NY- The D'Youville University men's volleyball team competed in yet another conference matchup against the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson University in a hard-fought match that resulted in victory for the Saints, 3-2 (22-25, 25-16, 25-19, 18-25, 15-11).
First Set
- DYU in the set were out bested in kills as the Knights recorded 15 to the Saints 13.
- The set was a close one as both sides fought tooth and nail to ensure a hopeful victory.
- Late in the set the score was tied at 20-20 but DYU couldn't get their footing right from that point on only able to score two points, 22-25.
Second Set
- Things for the Saints got off to a fast start as they went on a 3-0 run trying to establish momentum.
- With the score at 3-4 in the favor of the Saints was assured by another 3-0 run produced by DYU, 7-3.
- At 20-15 the Saints really enhanced their urgency solidifying their win in the set scoring five consecutive points, 25, 16.
Third Set
- Dean hammers his third kill of the set that helped the Saints maintain the lead on the Knights having it secure going into the media timeout, 15-10.
- Scoring was hard to come by for FDU only able to gather nine points to the scoreboard along with gifting the Saints three points that came from errors committed.
- The runs came in waves for the Saints that contributed to solidifying the win in the set, 25-19.
Fourth Set
- The Knights jumped out in the lead early showing some retaliation scoring the first two points.
- FDU knew the situation they were in when the score was even at 12-12 and played with a bit more pace that helped them go on a 6-0 run the largest thus far, 18-12.
- DYU only managed to tack on six more points which wouldn't prove to be enough as the Knights collected seven that closed out the set in their favor, 18-25.
Fifth Set
- Saints didn't waste any time getting settled in the set as they pursued a 3-0 run that placed them in a good spot.
- Things were at a standstill with the score 8-8 until another run was birthed worth four points, 12-8.
- The Knight could only manage to tack on one more point to their total which would not suffice to position the Saints in victory over FDU awarding them their first conference win on the season, 15-11.
