Box Score BUFFALO, NY- The D'Youville University men's volleyball team competed in NorthEast Conference play against the Red Flash of Saint Francis University dropping a straight set match, 3-0 (15-25, 15-25, 21-25) from the College Center Gym.
First Set
- DYU found a way to get ahead on the scoreboard, 4-2, and maintained the lead until 8-7 before letting SFU get the best of them.
- Things began to drift away from the Saints allowing the Red Flash to retaliate and go up by five points going into the media timeout, 15-10.
- Coming out of that, DYU didn't have a response as they mustered just five points during the remainder of the set, with two kills coming from Ian De Wilde and Anthony Dean, 25-15 SFU
Second Set
- The early going was back and forth until the score got tied up at, 8-8, when things started to drift in one direction positioning the Red Flash ahead by two, 10-8.
- Things were flowing on the SFU side of the court going on a 3-0 run, 13-9.
- DYU was unable to keep up with the scoring efforts of SFU with the Saints only scoring six more times, 25-15.
- Out of those six points DYU executed two kills during that time span.
Third Set
- It was difficult for either team to find any footing in this portion of the contest as the score was tied on eight different occasions.
- SFU was able to go on a 4-0 run that had them up by three, 17-14.
- The Red Flash were able to control the end of the set as they gathered four kills that helped cement their victory in the set and on the evening, 25-21.
