Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The D'Youville University men's volleyball team stepped outside of NEC play and collected their fifth non-conference victory of the season when they traveled to the Henry Butova Gymnasium and defeated American International College 3-1 (25-15, 25-19, 23-25, 25-15).
First Set
- DYU got out to an early 2-0 lead in the set and only trailed briefly at 8-7 and 9-8.
- The Saints, who now sport a 5-8 overall record, went on a 10-4 run to put the set in their favor at 19-12.
- The DYU defense came up big during the run forcing AIC (2-13 record) into four of its six attack errors on the set
Second Set
- The Saints fell behind by as many as 8-5 before battling their way back into the set.
- A kill by Kacper Taudul off an assist from Randy Adorno gave D'Youville its first lead of the second set at 12-11.
- Taudul and Jacob Malak each recorded five kills in second set.
Third Set
- DYU had its worst hitting percentage of the match in the third set by hitting at a .243 clip or 16 kills with seven attack errors on 37 attempts.
- Just like the first two sets, the third was a see-saw affair that took a little while longer before one team found an opening and took the right path to the set victory.
- Haven Wankerl's three consecutive kills and another from Taudul gave DYU a 23-20 lead before AIC found that path to set victory by reeling off the set's final five points.
Fourth Set
- AIC was stifled once again by the DYU defense and was limited to an attack percentage of .036 or (8-7-28) while the Saints had their best of the match at .385 (14-4-26).
- DYU turned a small lead at 12-10 into a blowout at 22-13 before coasting the rest of the way for the set and match victory.
- The DYU defense combined for four blocks and 11 digs in the set.
