Box Score GLENVILLE, WV. - The D'Youville University baseball team jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings and held a 5-4 lead going into the bottom of the seventh but a four-spot by the Glenville State University Pioneers dispatched the Saints 8-7 on Saturday afternoon
How It Happened:
- An unearned run followed by a bases loaded walk put DYU up 2-0 after the first.
- Jeremy Glinski's 2-out double plated Ethan Hammond and Billy Morris to double the margin to 4-0 after two.
- A lead off homer followed by a pair of walks helped GSU cut the margin in half, 4-2, after four.
- A pair of 2-out knocks tied the ballgame in the bottom of the fifth.
- Blaise Kolbert's one-out dinger propelled the Saints back ahead in the top of the seventh.
- A leadoff walk came back to hurt DYU in the bottom of the frame as the next Pioneer launched a 2-run jack to but GSU back up 6-5.
- An error and a balk compound the issues for DYU as a 2-out single to center pushed the margin to three at 8-5 GSU
- Hammond gave DYU some late hope as a 2-out blast scored Kolbert and trimmed the margin to one at 8-7 in the ninth but a GSU pitching change worked as Glinski struck out to end the ballgame.
