Men's Basketball Cruises Past Molloy

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Rounding out their four-game road trip, the D'Youville University men's basketball team cruised to a 95-68 win over Molloy University Sunday afternoon.
 
The Saints (3-6, 2-1 ECC) were led by Chase Jenkins (Titusville, Fla.) who had a career-high 29 points including knocking down seven three-pointers. Trayton Trice (Romeoville, Ill.) had another strong performance, scoring a career-high 24 points to go along with eight rebounds. Mason Putnam (Prattsburgh, N.Y.) and Kevin Thompson (Buffalo, N.Y.) also scored in double-digits with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
 
DYU carried their momentum from their game Friday evening, getting out to a fast start with a score of 33-10 with 8:48 left until the break. Jenkins helped the Saints in run to get the game going, knocking down three three-pointers while Thompson added eight points.
 
The Lions were able to battle back, cutting the deficit to as little as eight points but Jenkins knocked-down a jumper to make it 42-32 heading into the break.
 
D'Youville started to create separation over a four-minute stretch at the beginning of the second half, going on an 11-0 run, powered by Jenkins who had nine points including a slam off the feed from Renard Fontes-Jules (Brockton, Mass.) as well as a three-pointer off the dish from Noah Hutchins (Buffalo, N.Y.).
 
DYU was able to put the game away late in the half, going on a 15-6 run to make it 90-62 with just under three minutes left in regulation.
 
The Saints went 38-for-79 (48.1 percent) from the field and 15-for-30 (50 percent) from beyond the arc. The Lions went 23-for-60 (38.3 percent) from the floor and 7-for-25 (28 percent) from three-point range.
 
DYU took care of the ball well in today's game, having 24 assists to six turnovers.
 
The Saints will be back in action this Wednesday, December 13th, as they host Edinboro at 7 p.m.
