ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The D'Youville University Women's Volleyball Team fell to Roberts Wesleyan University 3-1 on Friday night in Rochester, N.Y.

D'Youville University 1 at Roberts Wesleyan University 3– (22-25, 17-25, 25-15, 23-25)

First Set
Matchplay started even between the Saints and Redhawks on Friday night after a kill from Isabelle Prentice (Bainbridge, Wash./Bainbridge) tied the set at seven. From there, the Redhawks went on a seven-point run to bring the score to 14-7 in Roberts Wesleyan's favor. The Saints managed to tie the game up at 19 after a strong kill from Giselle Ramirez (Miami, Fla./School for Advanced Studies). As play continued, Ramirez had another kill to tie the game at 21, but the Redhawks would score three more to bring the score to 24-21. Giselle Ramirez kept the game alive with another kill, but the Redhawks would go on to win the first set 25-22.

Second Set
The Redhawks took the early lead in set two jumping up 9-5, but the Saints worked to keep the game close. D'Youville managed to tie the game at 13 after a Redhawks error, but from there Roberts Wesleyan would take control of the set. With the score at 22-16, Madeline O'Brien (East Amherst, N.Y.) would get the final kill from the Saints and the Redhawks would go on to win the second set 25-17.

Third Set
The third set started with the Saints in control as they jumped out to a 9-2 lead following a kill from Emily Fischer (Grand Island, N.Y./Mount St. Mary Academy). The Redhawks fought to keep the score close, but the Saints hit their stride on offense and could not be stopped. The Saints went on a five-point run to bring the score to 23-13. Giselle Ramirez brought the Saints to 24 and Mitha Hatwar (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) delivered the final kill to give the Saints the 25-15 win and keep the match going.  

Fourth Set
Giselle Ramirez led the Saints offense going into set four and started the set off with a kill. Kendal Haberer (Derby, N.Y./ Lake Shore) delivered a service ace for the Saints to score the next point and the Saints took off scoring seven in a row. The Redhawks fought back, but an ace from Mitha Hatwar kept the Saints in the lead at 10-7. The Redhawks continued to fight back until the set was tied 14. Match play remained even until the Redhawks jumped up to a 21-18 lead. The Saints offense stepped up and a kill from Madeline O'Brien tied the game at 22. The Saints scored one more off a Redhawk error, but Roberts Wesleyan would win the fourth set 25-23 and the match 3-1.

The D'Youville University Women's Volleyball Team is off for the rest of the weekend but will host an exhibition game against William Smith College on Wednesday, November 1st. The Saints will return to ECC play next weekend with a home game against Molly University on Saturday, November 4th at 12:00 PM. The Saints will then host Queens College on Sunday, November 5th for Senior Day at 12:00 PM.
