Box Score OCEANSIDE, N.Y. – Making the trip downstate for an East Coast Conference matchup, the D'Youville University women's tennis team came away with the 4-3 win over Molloy University Saturday afternoon.
After surrendering the doubles points, the Saints (1-5, 1-2 ECC) kept their poise to battle in singles competition. In the first singles,
Yuliia Kashtelian (Lviv, Ukraine) came away with the win in three sets over Camila Cabellero. Kashtelian grinded out a 6-4 win in the first set before Cabellero answered back with a 6-3 win in the second set. In the final set, Kashtelian was able to secure the win with a 6-2 set win.
In second singles action,
Khushi Agarwal also won in three sets over Noor Goyvaerts. Goyvaerts got the 6-3 win in the first set. Agarawal was able to flip the switch to get the win, getting wins of 6-3 and 6-2 in the second and third sets. In third singles, freshman
Maria Campisi was able to cruise to a two-set win over Alice Kartushynska with scores of 6-4 and 6-0.
Paola Ermina was able to clinch the match, getting the win over Elena Saunders in three sets. Much like Agarawal, Ermina fell in the first set by a score of 6-2. Ermina was able to bounce back in a big way, getting wins of 6-2 and 6-4 in the second and third sets.
The Saints will be back in action next Friday, October 20th, as they host St. Thomas Aquinas College at the Southtowns Tennis Courts at 8:30 p.m.
