GERMANTOWN, Md. – Back in action, the D'Youville University men's soccer team battled close with conference opponent District of Columbia but fell by a score of 2-0 Saturday afternoon.
The Saints (0-9, 0-4 ECC) had opportunities early and often with
Finn Savage (Wrexham, Wales) leading the way with three shots on goal. Savage saw his first chance in the ninth minute, but his shot was saved by the Firebirds' goalkeeper. Savage saw another chance in the 15th minute, but his shot was saved once again.
Staying on the attack,
Aaron Baffour (Anchorage, Alaska) ripped a shot off in the 20th minute but could not find the back of the net. DC broke the tie in the 21st minute to take the 1-0 lead into the break.
Looking to generate their offense,
Ethan Robinson (Toronto, Ontario) saw his lone opportunity in the 53rd minute but was turned away.
DYU had one last look at net in the 63rd minute as Savage and
Ben Calkins (East Grinstead, England) got off back-to-back shots but were also turned away.
Jake Marks (London, England) went the distance in net, making six saves on eight attempts.
The Saints will be back in action this Wednesday, October 18th, as they travel to Molloy University for a 4:00 p.m. kick.
