ROCHESTER, N.Y. – In their first action of the 2023-24 season, the D'Youville University women's rowing team put together a third place finish in the Women's 4x at the Head of the Genesee Saturday afternoon.
The team of
Kyleigh Oneill (Buffalo, N.Y.),
Riley Nyhlen (Getzville, N.Y.),
Eliora Brown (Westfield, N.Y.), and
Madelynn Racaniello (Fairport, N.Y.) put together a time of 22:08.447 to beat out the likes of RIT, University of Rochester, and Clarkson University. The team finished behind a pair of boats from Ithaca College.
"I felt that the boat and athletes did well considering the difficult weather conditions, delayed starts, and it being the first race of the fall season," said head women's rowing coach Woody Stark. "This fall has required our team to be flexible and agile with the new coaching staff and limited student-athletes. I'm proud of the way they have faced all challenges with enthusiasm and determination. We could have cancelled the fall season and try to prepare for the spring season, but they hold each other and themselves accountable and set the bar high for what it means to row for this team."
The Saints will look to build upon their performance this weekend when they compete in the Head of the Niagara on Sunday, October 15th.
