SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The D'Youville women's tennis team returned to the court Saturday, falling to Le Moyne, 7-0, in a non-conference match at Nottingham High School. Saturday's loss drops the Saints to 2-1 on the season, ending their best regular-season start since 2010 when D'Youville opened the season with four consecutive wins on their way to an 8-1 regular season.
Freshman Yuliia Kastelian suffered her first setbacks of the season, falling 6-2, 6-2, in her singles match while losing her doubles match with freshman Taylor Nash, 6-2. Kastelian's hot start to the season featured two singles victories and two doubles victories where she won a combined 38 of 39 games played. Sophomore Katrina Whipple was the only other Saint to win a set Saturday, falling 6-1, 6-0 in her singles match.
D'Youville will get a chance to bounce back from Saturday's defeat next Sunday when they host Penn State-Altoona in a non-conference match. Play is set to get underway from the Village Glen Tennis Club at 11 a.m.
