The D'Youville men's soccer team will wrap-up its 2021 spring slate, hosting Daemen Friday night at Dobson Field.
Last Time Out – Paced by five goals from senior midfielder Nick Dumond in their first home match since the 2019 season, the Saints blanked former AMCC rivals, Hilbert, in a 9-0 victory on April 22 ... Dumond opened his 2021 scoring account in the 13th minute on an assist from sophomore Chris Irakoze. Just over ten minutes later, Dumond found the back of the net once more, this time unassisted. Junior midfielder Alex Armbrust scored his first goal of the season in the 32nd minute before Dumond added two more goals in the 36th and 37th minutes. Dumond rounded out his scoring on the evening in the 41st minute on an unassisted effort that put D'Youville ahead 6-0 going into intermission ... The Saints tacked on three more goals in the second half from Irakoze (46'), senior defenseman Matt Davis (67'), and sophomore midfielder Noah Steele (75').
Tale of the Tape – Friday is the season finale for both teams and will be their fourth all-time meeting, but first between both squads at the NCAA Division II level. The Saints will be looking for their first win over the Wildcats as Daemen owns a 3-0 record over their crosstown foes, including a 1-0 victory at Dobson Field on September 11, 2016, in their last meeting. D'Youville will also be searching for their first goal over the Wildcats as Daemen has shutout the Saints in the three previous matches.
D'Youville by the Numbers – Dumond's big game puts him on top of the D'Youville goal tally while Irakoze's one goal in each game is good for second on the team with two ... Dumond and Irakoze also lead the team in points with 11 and five respectively ... Senior goalkeeper Kyle Dick has a team-high nine saves in between the pipes this season.
Daemen at a Glance – The Wildcats are looking to finish their spring season with a winning record after going 2-2 in their first four games. The first of two wins came on April 15 over Medaille in a 2-0 shutout. On April 25, Daemen avenged a 4-2 loss earlier in the season at Roberts Wesleyan, taking down the Redhawks 3-1 at Karrer Field. Dennis Montero Guerrero and Michel Holscher both have a team-high two goals, while Christian Lewin, Arthur Djengue, and Alexander Khademi have each found the back of the net once for the Wildcats.
