From Pitch to Platform: Kwame Anim-Somuah Scores Big with Veltíosi Performance

BUFFALO, N.Y. - On the field, D'Youville University men's soccer player Kwame Anim-Somuah is known for his vision, discipline, and drive. Off the field, those same traits are now defining him as something more: an emerging entrepreneur with a vision to reshape how athletes train, develop, and perform.

That vision recently earned Anim-Somuah top honors, as he captured first place in the inaugural DiMaria Emerging Entrepreneurs Challenge with his app, Veltíosi Performance—an all-in-one soccer development platform built from firsthand experience.
For Anim-Somuah, the idea didn't come from a classroom—it came from frustration.

Like many competitive athletes, he found himself juggling multiple tools: one app for training, another for fitness, spreadsheets for tracking progress, and little to no personalization. The process was inefficient, fragmented, and ultimately limiting. Instead of accepting that reality, he set out to fix it.

Veltíosi Performance was born from that gap.

The platform brings training, fitness, nutrition, and performance tracking into one streamlined system. It offers position-specific development plans, personalized programming, and integrated analytics—all designed to help athletes train smarter and perform better.

That distinction helped separate Veltíosi from competitors in the eyes of judges. While many platforms focus on isolated aspects of training, Veltíosi integrates both individual and team development, offering flexibility for athletes, coaches, and organizations alike. Its scalable model—from freemium access to team licensing at the high school, club, and collegiate levels—demonstrates both accessibility and long-term growth potential.

The concept also arrives at the right time. With an estimated 40–60 million competitive soccer players worldwide and a growing demand for tech-driven, personalized training solutions, the market opportunity is significant. Anim-Somuah's initial focus—U.S. high school and club teams—positions the app to grow organically within a system he knows well.

But what truly sets him apart isn't just the idea—it's his proximity to the problem.

As a current student-athlete at D'Youville University, Anim-Somuah has direct access to the very audience he's building for. He understands the daily grind, the inefficiencies, and the untapped potential within athlete development. That lived experience gives Veltíosi authenticity—and credibility.

It also gives him an edge as he begins to scale.

His early growth strategy includes partnerships with high school and club programs, pilot initiatives, and leveraging social media through training content and athlete influencers. With college athletes promoting the platform and real users demonstrating results, Anim-Somuah is betting on organic trust to fuel adoption.

Winning the DiMaria Emerging Entrepreneurs Challenge not only validates the idea—it accelerates it. The recognition provides both momentum and visibility as he continues refining the platform and expanding its reach.

"Being the inaugural winner means a lot to me, not just personally but as a reflection of the work I've put into turning an idea into something real," said Anim-Somuah. "It validates that Veltíosi is solving a meaningful problem and gives me the momentum to keep building and growing it. It was a great opportunity to represent D'Youville and show what student entrepreneurs here are capable of."

It's a mindset that mirrors his approach on the pitch: efficient, intentional, and always focused on growth.

From competing in the East Coast Conference to pitching in front of judges, Kwame Anim-Somuah is proving that success isn't limited to one arena. With Veltíosi Performance, he's building something that could impact the next generation of athletes—one training session, one data point, and one innovation at a time.
