The D'Youville men's soccer team will finally return to the pitch for game action on Sunday, April 18, when it travels to Chili, N.Y., for a match with Roberts Wesleyan. Kick-off is set for 2 p.m.
Last Time Out – The Saints closed the 2019 season with an 8-10 record, posting a 4-6 mark in conference action. The team ended last season with a 5-1 win over Alfred State on October 29, 2019.
Tale of the Tape – The future East Coast Conference foes were supposed to meet on March 30, but the match was cancelled due to COVID-19 protocols within the D'Youville program. Sunday's match will be played as a non-conference contest as ECC league play is set to resume in the fall.
D'Youville by the Numbers – Senior midfielder Nick Dumond returns after pacing the squad with eight goals in 2019, while sophomore Chris Irakoze (four goals) also returns for head coach Brendan Murphy's team. Additionally, senior goalkeeper Kyle Dick is back after making 72 saves during the 2019 campaign.
Roberts Wesleyan at a Glance – The Redhawks have already fit in four matches this season, picking up three wins and one double-overtime setback to Gannon. The Saints will have to find an answer for forward Dylan Ruiz, who leads Roberts Wesleyan with four goals and one assist, good for a team-high nine points in just two games played.
