The D'Youville baseball team returns home for a three-game East Coast Conference series with Mercy this weekend. The Saints will look to get back on track after a four-game road swing that saw them drop four-straight contests to Mercyhurst and Lincoln (Pa.).
Last Time Out – The Saints opened up league play for the first time as a member of the ECC, traveling to Lincoln, Pa. for a three-game set that turned into two games due to inclement weather. D'Youville dropped both Saturday games, 10-1 and 8-1, before Sunday's nine-inning contest was postponed.
D'Youville by the Numbers – At the plate, three Saints are batting over .300 during the 2021 campaign and are led by sophomore catcher Jeremy Glinski (.450 AVG), followed by senior outfielder/infielder Renato Quinones (.353 AVG), and freshman infielder/pitcher Alex Dzimian (.333) ... Sophomore catcher Mateo Santos paces the Saints with six RBI and is also batting a .292 clip at the plate ... Glinski also leads the team in stolen bases, swiping six in the D'Youville's eight games thus far.
Mercy at a Glance - The Mavericks are off to a .500 start through six games this season. The Mavericks opened the season with a 3-0 victory over Bloomfield and a convincing 12-3 win over Adelphi University before dropping their next two games. Mercy rebounded with their third win of the season on Sunday, March 21, taking down Dominican College, 6-4, in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. ... Three Mavericks are batting over .300, led by infielder Charles Lebron (.421 AVG), infielder Nolan Giblin (.333 AVG), and outfielder James Dieguez (.316 AVG).
