Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The D'Youville women's volleyball had beaten Roberts Wesleyan twice this season, but the Saints were unable to make it three times on Thursday as the Redhawks won in three sets.
D'Youville (3-17, 2-7 ECC) used a balanced attack with three players over seven kills. Roberts Wesleyan () got 12 kills from Lauren Norwood and 10 from Charlotte Orgill.
The Redhawks started well offensively in set one and built a 15-11 lead, and hit .286 in the process. The Saints called time after the lead got to 22-15. Kills from Eve Musielak and Emily Fischer and a couple of attack errors got the Saints within 24-19. A kill from Orgill gave the set to the Redhawks.
In set two, D'Youville was hitting .273 early despite trailing 9-6 early. Roberts Wesleyan enjoyed the early thanks to a .636 hitting clip earlier in the set. D'Youville then scored four straight points to tie the set at 10 on a kill from Sarah Wittek. The Redhawks used a 5-0 spurt to take a 17-14 lead and wouldn't trail again. The Saints got it to within two on multiple occasions but couldn't get any closer.
Set three was tied at 3-3, 5-5, and 11-11 to start. The Saints took a 12-11 lead on a kill from Musielak, but the Redhawks quickly tied the game at 13. In a back and forth set, the score would be tied twice more, and neither side would lead by more than three the rest of the way. D'Youville benefited from a ball-handling error to make it 23-22 Roberts, but the home team would score back-to-back points to win the set and match.
