Williamsville, NY - The D'Youville women's tennis team began their season Friday evening, falling to the Fredonia Blue Devils by the final of 9-0.

Lauren Karoglan (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) took on the top Fredonia player in the number one singles match, falling 6-4, 6-4. Alisson Meissner (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) joined Karoglan as the top doubles pairing as the two fell 8-4.

In the second doubles pairing, Amanda Waliszewski (Sanborn, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) and Julia Clapper (Cleveland, OH/Highland) had a very hard fought match, falling 8-4. In her first collegiate match, Faith Falkowski (Batavia, NY/Notre Dame) battled hard in a 6-2, 6-2 loss. In addition, Lilly Nguyen (Rochester, NY/Penfield) saw her first match as a collegiate player.

The next match for the Spartans comes next Saturday, September 7 as they host Penn State-Altoona at 1:00pm.
