Men End Conference Schedule at Greensburg

Greensburg, PA – The D'Youville baseball team concluded their conference schedule for the season on Saturday afternoon as they lost a pair of games to the Pitt.-Greensburg Bobcats by the scores of 12-3 and 19-3.

The Bobcats scored a pair of runs in each of the second and third innings to go ahead over the Spartans 4-0. They added five runs in the fourth plus two in the fifth to lead 11-0.

Before Greensburg added a run in the bottom of the sixth, the Spartans would get on the board in the top of the inning. Dylan Haak (Depew, NY/Depew) led off the inning with a single, advancing to second on a passed ball. Connor Truitt (Rochester, NY/Early College) would then walk and move to third in the next at-bat as Justin Varney (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) hit a double to bring home Haak for the first run from D'Youville. After a Brendan Burke (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford) walk, Alex Liem (Dorchester, Ont./Dorchester Secondary) would walk to bring in the team's second run.

In the top of the seventh, Matt Guenther (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) reached base on an error, advancing to second. Devon Kelly (Rochester, NY/Olympia) pinch hit and singled to center field, scoring Guenther for the game's final run.

Haak led the team with a 2-4 performance, scoring one run. Truitt, Varney, Burke, Guenther, and Kelly each tallied a hit in the game. Varney and Guenther each accounted for runs as well.

Adam Lampman (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) got the start, allowing two earned runs and struck out two over 2.0 innings. Burke also went 2.0 innings as he allowed one earned run. Derek Mosher (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) allowed no earned runs in his 1.0 inning of work as Nick Jank (Orchard Park, NY/Canisius) also pitched 1.0 inning.

Greensburg again got out in front of the Spartans early in game two. They scored four runs in the bottom of the second to go ahead 4-0 before D'Youville answered in the third.

Khaled Numan-Ali (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) began the inning with a single, followed by a single from Kelly and a single from Haak to load the bases. Numan-Ali would then score on a Truitt pop up for the team's first run. Two batters later, Burke would hit a single to score Haak and Kelly as D'Youville trailed 4-3.

Over the next several innings the Bobcats would tack on several more runs. Their total would come to an end in the eighth inning as they would go on to win the game 19-3.

Kevin Sanders (Buffalo, NY/City Honors) led the team with a pair of hits while Haak, Truitt, Jank, Numan-Ali, and Kelly all had a hit each. Burke led the team with two RBI and a walk.

Matt Critelli (Camden, NY/Camden) got the start in the game with Lampman coming in to relieve him. Haak would close out the final four innings of the game, striking out seven.
