Keuka, NY- The D'Youville baseball team traveled to Keuka College on Tuesday to face the Wolves in a doubleheader.  The Spartans dropped both games 7-10 and 8-24.

Keuka jumped ahead in the first inning 5-0.  With singles by Matt Critelli (Camden, NY/ Camden)Kevin Sanders (Buffalo, NY/ City Honors) and Justin Varney (Henrietta, NY/ Rush-Henrietta), plus a double by Dylan Haak(Depew, NY/ Depew), the Spartans were able to close the gap to 4-5 after the second.

The Wolves would extend their lead to 9-4 after the third.  After M. Critelli and Connor Truitt(Rochester, NY/ Early College)both got on base in the fifth inning, Sanders sent them home with a homerun to make the game 7-9. Keuka would score one more run before the first game would end to finish the game 7-10.

Haak and Rentato Quinones(Lockport, NY/ St. Joe's) each got a hit while Truitt and Varney got two. Sanders and M. Critelli led the way with three hits each.  Adam Lampman(West Seneca, NY/ West Seneca West) pitched for the Spartans, striking out five and only walking one.

Game two started off exciting for both teams, having the score of 4-4 after the first.  With Keuka having a pitching struggle, the Spartans took advantage.  After the first five of the lineup got on base, the Wolves changed their pitcher with just one out.  With another walk and run scoring, it was another pitching change.  An RBI single by Sanders and a sacrifice fly by Nick Jank (Orchard Park, NY/ Canisius), D'Youville would finish the top of the inning being up by four.

Keuka would tie the game at the bottom of the first before taking the lead after the third after scoring 13 runs.  The team would score seven more after the sixth, but not before D'Youville would make a last attempt in the seventh.

After Varney, Shane Critelli(Camden, NY/ Camden), and Brendan Burke (Collegeville, PA/ Spring-Ford) all got on base, Truitt would send two of them home on errors by the field.  Burke would score after Jank was hit by a pitch.  Truitt would then score the last run of the game after an error by the Wolves.

Lampman, Burke and Truitt each got one hit, while Sanders and Varney each got two.  Haak pitched the first 2.2 innings striking out four batters. M. Critelli, Jank, and Matt Guenther (Cheektowaga, NY/ Maryvale) would all get their turn on the mound each striking out another batter each.

The Spartans next see action on Thursday, April 18 when they face Cazenovia at home.  The team then heads to La Roche on Saturday to face the conference opponent in a double header.
