Houghton, NY- The D'Youville Women's Tennis team lose a close match to Houghton College on Tuesday, falling 4-5.

The Spartans started of the night strong, going 2-1 in doubles.  Lauren Karoglan (Orchard Park, NY/ Orchard Park) and Alisson Meissner (Hamburg, NY/ Hamburg) won 8-4, while Julia Clapper (Cleveland, OH/ Highland) and Faith Falkowski (Batavia, NY/ Notre Dame) won 8-3.  Lexi Dickson (Hamilton, Ont./ Frontier) and Amanda Waliszewski (Sanborn, NY/ Niagara-Wheatfield) tried to complete the doubles sweep, but fell 4-8. 

D'Youville couldn't keep the momentum going for the singles matches only going 2-4.  Karoglan picked up one of the points in the singles one match, defeating her opponent 6-2 and 7-5.  Picking up the other point was Lilly Nguyen (Rochester, NY/Penfield) winning the singles six match 6-4 and 6-3.  Meissner fell in the singles two match 1-6, 6-1 and 1-6, while Clapper fell in the singles three match 6-3, 1-6 and 5-7.  Falkowski and Waliszewski also were unable to grab a point falling 2-6, 3-6 and 2-6, 2-6.  

The Spartans host Pitt.-Bradford in the first round of playoffs on Saturday, October 12 at 2 PM.
