Box Score Steubenville, OH - The D'Youville women's volleyball team fell to the host Franciscan Barons on Saturday afternoon by the final score of 3-1.
Each of the four sets played on Saturday were closely contested. Franciscan took the first set 25-20 and then took the second 25-19. The Spartans would battle back in the third to earn a 26-24 victory. With a fifth set on the line, Franciscan closed out the match by taking the fourth in another close decision, 25-21, to win the match 3-1.
Samantha Murray (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) led the team with six kills while Brianna Damstetter (Buffalo, NY/City Honors) and Sarah Wittek (Elma, NY/Iroquois) each tallied five. Carly Milleville (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) recorded a team-high 10 digs with McKenna Cartonia (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) added nine assists.
Lauren Conley (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) added two digs and two service aces with Mikaela Milleville (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) tallied four digs. Both Talia Wright (Derby, NY/Lake Shore) and Julia Peinkofer (Elma, NY/Iroquois) tallied two digs.
The next match for the women will come in the form of their final home game of the season this coming Tuesday, October 29 as the Spartans will host the Medaille Mavericks at 7:00pm for senior night.
