Williamsville, NY – The D'Youville women's tennis team played a non-conference match against the Medaille Mavericks on Saturday afternoon, suffering a 5-4 loss.
The top two players for the women in Lauren Karoglan (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) and Gillian Wittig (Depew, NY/Depew) again were at the top of their games with both earning points as singles and doubles players. Lauren beat the top Medaille player 7-5, 6-2 while Wittig took down the second Mavericks player 6-1, 6-2. The two teamed up as the top doubles pairing to win 8-1.
Dena Iadanza (Vestal, NY/Vestal) also earned a point for D'Youville as she continues to have a very strong season. She defeated her opponent 2-6, 6-3, 10-8 to earn a point for the Spartans.
Alisson Meissner (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg), Amanda Waliszewski (Sanborn, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield), and Lexi Dickson (Hamilton, Ont./Frontier) all played well in the match against the Mavericks.
The next match for the women comes tomorrow at home as the Spartans host the Pitt.-Bradford Panthers at 10:30am.
