Softball Receives Tough Loss from Brockport

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Buffalo, NY - The D'Youville softball team continued their busy week on Tuesday afternoon by losing a pair of games against the Brockport Golden Eagles, falling by the scores of 11-1 and 9-2.

Brockport racked up the runs quickly in game one. They combined for seven runs between the second and third innings, adding an eighth run in the fourth. With a no-hitter going into the fifth, Rachele Anello (Buffalo, NY/Charter) broke it up with a pinch-hit single. Cameron Colan (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) would then reach on a fielder's choice in the next at-bat and score two batters later on an error, ending the shutout.

In the top of the sixth, the Golden Eagles added three more runs and shutout the Spartans in the bottom of the inning to win the game 11-1.

Anello and Ashley Carney (Clarence, NY/Clarence) recorded the only two hits for D'Youville, with Colan scoring the lone run. Alexis Dymond (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) pitched 4.0 innings of relief and allowed one earned run.

To begin the second game of the doubleheader, D'Youville struck first. Carney led off with a walk, followed by a sac-bunt from Rylie Russo (Hamburg, NY/Frontier). Hannah Turek (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) then tripled to bring home Carney, and Darian Evans (Brant, NY/Lake Shore) would reach on an error to score Turek for a quick 2-0 lead.

Despite scoring first, Brockport would tack on three runs in each of the second and third innings. They then added a run in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. The Golden Eagles would go up 9-2 and finish the game out by that final score.

Turek led the team with three hits and one RBI. Victoria Purucker (North Tonawanda, NY/Starpoint), Colan and Dymond each had a hit in the game. In two innings of relief, Turek allowed one earned run and struck out one.

The women will travel to Pitt.-Bradford tomorrow to play the Panthers at 3/5pm.
