Houghton, NY - The D'Youville women's volleyball team was defeated by the Houghton Highlanders on Friday evening by the final score of 3-0.

Houghton took the first set 25-13, followed by a 25-16 win in the second set. In the third set, D'Youville was close to taking their first set but they were ultimately defeated by the Highlanders by the score of 25-21, winning the match 3-0.

Junior Kendyll Smith (Petrolia, PA/Karns City) led the team in kills in the match with nine, followed by Megan McCarthy (Eden, NY/Eden) with six. Both Jasmine Filkov (North Collins, NY/North Collins) and Alexandra Bubar (Wilson, NY/Wilson) both had double-digit digs with ten and eleven respectively. 

Megan Schneider (Lockport, NY/Lockport) added four kills and six digs in the match, while Abby Booth (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) led the team with 13 assists. Freshman McKenna Coartonia (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) added 10 assists.

The women will next play on Saturday, October 1st at Cazenovia.
