Box Score 2 Meadville, PA - The D'Youville women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday afternoon by falling to Grove City 3-1 and Westminster 3-1.
Against Grove City, the Spartans were defeated in three sets 25-12, 25-12, 25-21. Leading the team in kills was sophomore Julie Fleming (Tonawanda, NY/Mt, St. Mary's Academy) with a season high seven. Megan McCarthy (Eden, NY/Eden) followed up with four kills and Kendyll Smith (Petrolia, PA/Karns City) added three.
Freshman McKenna Cartonia (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) led the team with 10 assists while Abby Booth (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) added eight. Savannah Brayton (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) led the team with six digs.
In their second match of the day, Westminster took down D'Youville 25-15, 25-16, 20-15, 25-21. Three players shared the team lead with five kills. Booth led the team with 15 assists. McCarthy had a team high 5 total blocks and Jasmine Filkov (North Collins, NY/North Collins) had six digs.
The women will hit the road again for their next tournament on Friday, September 16th as they travel to St. John Fisher. They will play Allegheny for the second time in as many weeks for their first game of the tournament at 3pm on Friday and then play Penn State-Behrend at 7pm.
