Buffalo, NY – The D'Youville softball team saw their season come to an end Sunday morning as they fell to the Penn State-Behrend Lions in the AMCC Softball Championship Game by the final of 4-0.

The Spartans threatened first in the top of the second as Hannah Turek (Depew, NY/Lancaster) led off the inning with a single. Turek would reach third two batters later as MacKenzie Kehlenbeck (Alabama, NY/Oakfield-Alabama) reached on an error and then stole second. However, the Lions would get out of the inning with two consecutive outs, leaving two Spartans on base.

Behrend would then put the first two runs on the board in the bottom of the second for a 2-0 lead. D'Youville would press for their first run of the game as Kalie McHenry (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) reached third with two outs, but was stranded there in the top of the fourth.

The Lions would double their lead in the sixth for a 4-0 advantage and go on to win their second consecutive AMCC Postseason Championship by the final of 4-0.

Lydia Monin (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry Charter School), Turek, McHenry and Lauren Gawlak (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) all recorded hits in the game. McHenry pitched six innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out six.

McHenry, Monin and Kehlenbeck were all named to the AMCC All-Conference Team. The AMCC's all-tournament team will be announced later this week.
