Box Score Altoona, PA – After falling to Altoona in their first match of the day, the D'Youville women's volleyball team were defeated in their second match of the day to the Franciscan University Barons Saturday afternoon by the final score of 3-0.
The Spartans were defeated in straight sets 25-12, 25-13, 25-11 by the Barons. Megan McCarthy (Eden, NY/Eden) led the team with 5 kills, followed by Megan Schneider (Lockport, NY/Lockport) and Kendyll Smith (Petrolia, PA/Karns City) with 4 each. Schneider had 8 digs to lead the team and Kaitlyn Grimm (Erie, PA/Iroquois) added 7.
Megan Gawrys (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) had a team high 14 assists with Julie Fleming (Tonawanda, NY/Mt. St. Mary Academy) recording a team high 4 total blocks.
The women will play at home for their next match on Wednesday, September 30th at 7pm against Houghton College.
