Box Score Cresson, PA – The D'Youville men's soccer team began their 2015 conference schedule with a loss on Saturday afternoon to the Mount Aloysius Mounties by the final score of 2-0.
Both goals for Mount Aloysius came in the first half, but the Spartans couldn't gather enough offensive power to put one on the board. Senior Nick Johnson (North Tonawanda, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) led the team in shots with 2. Johnson, Aaron Zelko (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads), Daniel Tarbell (Clarence, NY/Clarence) and Josh Hammer (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) all had one shot on goal.
Goalkeeper Brett Matthews (Angola, NY/Lake Shore) made 5 saves on 7 shots Saturday afternoon. The Spartans were outshot 20-7 and lost the corner kick battle 12-3.
The men return home for their next game against Buffalo State on Wednesday, September 30th at 7pm.
