Williamsville, NY – The D'Youville women's tennis team faced their first conference opponent of the season on Wednesday afternoon in the Medaille Mavericks and fell to their AMCC rivals by the final score of 8-1.
Sophomore Krista Cornell (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) took the lone point for the women, winning her second singles match by the score of 1-6, 6-3, 10-6 over Medaille's second singles player. Cornell also was in the top doubles pairing for the Spartans with Courtney Fox (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry Charter School).
Fox played as the top singles player for the Spartans and took her match to three sets but ultimately lost. Isabella Madamba (Bitburg, Germany/Bitburg American) and Jessica Banning (Amhrest, NY/Amherst) also played well in their third doubles pairing.
The women will play their next conference match on Saturday, September 19th at 9am against Penn State-Altoona.
