Buffalo, NY – The D'Youville women's tennis team suffered their first loss of the season Friday afternoon to the Fredonia Blue Devils by the score of 8-1.
Making her debut for the women's tennis team, freshman Gillian Wittig (Depew, NY/Depew) won the number one singles match over Fredonia's number one by the final of 6-2, 7-6.
Three other players, Bryannia Sutton (Mexico, NY/Mexico), Nicole Gilforte (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) and Natalie Douie (Harare, Zimbabwe/Chisipite Senior School) also made their first appearances for D'Youville.
The women's next match is this weekend on Sunday, September 13th at Elmira at 3pm.
