Box Score 2 Greensburg, PA – After sweeping both games on Saturday, the D'Youville Softball Team continued to roll by defeating the Pitt.-Greensburg Bobcats by the finals of 5-0 in game one and 3-1 in game two on Sunday.
The two teams would remain scoreless through the first four innings of the game, but D'Youville would change that in the fifth inning. Center fielder Amanda Drake (West Winfield, NY/Mount Markham) led off the inning with a single. First baseman Lauren DeVantier (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) came into the batter's box and belted her first homerun of the season to make the game 2-0.
Hannah Turek (Depew, NY/Lancaster) followed up DeVantier's homerun with a double. Two batters later, MacKenzie Kehlenbeck (Oakfield, NY/Oakfield-Alabama) singled to bring home Turek. Kehlenbeck advanced to second on an error by the center fielder to get into scoring position. The speedy shortstop then stole third and was driven home by Sarah Marino (Buffalo, NY/Holy Angels Academy) on the next play.
D'Youville would add to their 4-0 lead in the top of the sixth. Pitcher Kalie McHerny (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) singled to begin the inning and advanced to second on an error by the Greensburg right fielder. Lydia Monin (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry Charter School) singled to bring in McHenry making the score 5-0. The Spartans would win the game by that score to take game one of the doubleheader.
Kalie McHenry earned her third win of the weekend and her 14th win of the season. Going a complete game 7 innings, Kalie allowed 4 hits and no runs, striking out 9 and walking none. Lauren DeVantier led the team with 2 RBIs and tied for the team lead with 2 hits along with Monin.
