Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Buffalo, NY – The D'Youville Softball Team continued their hot play in conference Saturday afternoon defeating the visiting La Roche Redhawks by the scores of 7-3 in game one and 9-1 in game two of the team's doubleheader.

The game's first run came in the bottom of the second inning. Alison Hall (Cheektowaga, NY/Depew) doubled to lead off the bottom half of the inning. After advancing to third on a wild pitch, Ashley Colan (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) came to the plate and reached first on an error from the La Roche shortstop, giving Hall the chance to give D'Youville a 1-0 lead.

D'Youville picked up where they left off in the bottom half of the second, scoring 3 more runs in the bottom of the third. Lauren DeVantier (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) was driven in on a Hall triple after DeVantier singled two at-bats earlier. The next batter, MacKenzie Kehlenbeck (Oakfield, NY/Oakfield-Alabama) doubled and drove in Hall. Moving to third on a wild pitch, Sarah Marino (Buffalo, NY/Holy Angels Academy) drove in Kehlenbeck on a single. At the end of the third, the Spartans led the Redhawks 4-0.

The Spartans again were at it in the bottom of the fourth inning. Pitcher Kalie McHenry (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) reached base on an error from the La Roche right fielder. Leadoff hitter Lydia Monin (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry Charter School) brought in McHenry on a double, making the game 5-0.

No runs were scored in the fifth, and the Redhawks scored a run in the sixth to make the game 5-1. McHenry led off the bottom of the sixth with a single. She advanced to second on the wild pitch and then advanced on a Monin fly ball. DeVantier drove in McHenry on a single. Hannah Turek (Depew, NY/Lancaster) stepped to the plate and drove in DeVantier from first with a double, making the score 7-1.

La Roche would score 2 runs in the top of the seventh, but it wouldn't be enough as the Spartans took game one from the Redhawks by the final score of 7-3.

Kalie McHenry picked up her seventh win of the season, pitching a complete game allowing 3 runs and striking out 8. At the plate, McHenry scored 2 runs and also recorded 2 hits. Seven different Spartans recorded all 7 RBIs, with DeVantier, Hall and McHenry all recording 2 runs. DeVantier, Hall, Marino and McHenry all tied with 2 hits each.
