Box Score Buffalo, NY: September 27th, 2014 – Coming off of their first win of the season last Saturday, the D'Youville Men's Soccer Team lost their first conference game of the season against the visiting Mt. Aloysius Mounties by the score of 4-2.
Mt. Aloysius opened up the scoring 4 minutes into the game to take the lead 1-0. Almost 16 minutes later, junior captain Nick Johnson (North Tonawanda, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) tied the score at 1 all by finishing a pass from freshman point leader, Brandon Pauly (Owego, NY/Owego).
Late in the first half, D'Youville scored what seemed to be the goal that would put them ahead, but it was disallowed because of an offisdes call. With under a minute left, My. Aloysius took the lead instead by scoring their second of the half making the score 2-1.
The next two goals were scored by Mt. Aloysius, pushing the score to 4-1. With under 5 minutes left, freshman defender Conner Ward (San Diego, CA/Cathedral Catholic) pushed forward from his center back position to score the Spartan's second goal of the game and his first goal of the season. However, the late attempt fell short with Mt. Aloysius capturing the conference meeting by the final of 4-2.
Freshman Alf Johann Egge (Stavanger, Norway/Stavanger) led the team with 4 shots, several coming off of free kicks. The team had 5 shots on goal as a team, scoring on 2 of them.
The Next game for the D'Youville Men's Soccer Team is Saturday, October 4th at 4pm against conference opponent, Pitt-Greensburg. The game will be played at home on the turf.
