Box Score 2 Hamburg, NY-The D'Youville College softball team bounced back from Tuesday's tough doubleheader at Penn State Behrend by pouring it on offensively in a pair of runs at Hilbert College.
D'Youville won the opener 12-0 and closed the afternoon with a 12-2 victory. Both games only went five innings.
Game one saw three Spartan hitters go yard. Senior Alison Hall (Cheektowaga, NY/Depew) hit her first career homer with a solo shot in the second inning. Two batters later MacKenzie Kehlenbeck (Oakfield, NY/Oakfield-Alabama) hit a two-run homer. Amanda Drake (West Winfield, NY/Mount Markham) hit a solo round tripper in the third inning. Drake also had a career-high three RBI in the game.
Shannon Evans (Cheektowaga, NY/East Aurora) went 3-3 with 2 RBI and Lauren DeVantier (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) went 2-2 with a triple.
Pitcher Hannah Turek (Lancaster, NY/Depew) tossed a two-hitter and struck out three in the shutout victory. Turek improves to 3-3 on the year and it is the second shutout of the season for the freshman.
Game two saw the Spartans score seven runs in their first turn at bat led by Kehlenbeck's second two-run homer of the afternoon. All nine D'Youville starters record at least one hit in the 12-2 win.
Winning pitcher Kalie McHenry (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) struck out nine Hawks and improves her record to 8-7.
D'Youville improves to 8-6 in AMCC play, 11-13 overall, and currently sit in fifth-place in the conference standings.
The Spartans host six-place La Roche April 26 at the Amherst Northtown Center, then seventh-place Medaille April 27 at the ANC. Doubleheader start time each day is 1:00 p.m.
