Elmira, NY-Brett Cawthorn (West Seneca, NY/St. Francis) became the first Spartan men's volleyball player to record a triple-double since 2006 and Steve Goedtel (Eden, NY/Eden) added his first career double-double in the four-set loss to Bard College.

Game one saw the Spartans rally from a 24-21 deficit to tie the game and then D'Youville couldn't convert five set points and lost 33-31.

D'Youville rallied to take game two 25-22 bur an injury early in the third set force the Spartans to shuffle the lineup yet again. The Spartans then went out 25-22, and 25-15.

Alex Johnson (Lancaster, NY/Clarence) had a a match-high 17 digs and Matt Loos (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) added seven kills and a career-high 11 digs.

The Spartans opened the day with a three set loss to Stevens. Goedtel had a team-high four kills.

The Spartans play New York University tomorrow (March 9) at 11 am at Elmira College.
