D'Youville Men On Their Way to Playoffs

Box Score

Buffalo, NY - Despite losing to Medaille College Tuesday evening by the score of 2-1, the D'Youville Men's Soccer Team clinched their first ever trip to the AMCC Playoffs.

Medaille was the first to break the 0-0 tie as they scored 21 minutes into the first half. At the 35 minute mark, the Mavericks scored another goal to make the score 2-0. Just 5 minutes later, D'Youville cut the lead in half with a goal from freshman Jason Wilson (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) for his first goal of the season, and of his collegiate career.

The 1 goal lead was enough for the Mavericks to clinch the victory as no goals were scored in the second half of the game. At halftime, freshman goalkeeper Callum Christie (Hamilton, ON, CA/Dallastown) came in and stopped all 7 shots he faced to shut out the Mavericks in the second half. Medaille had 25 shots as a team throughout the game. D'Youville had 5 shots with 3 on goal.

This season, second year Head Coach Brendan Murphy has led his team to the playoffs for the first time in the program's history. After a winless 2013 conference record, the Spartans improved to a 3-5-1 AMCC record, including a 3-0-1 unbeaten streak. D'Youville's 3-5-1 earned them the 6 seed in the AMCC Playoffs.

The D'Youville Men's Soccer Team heads to the number 3 seed Pitt.-Greensburg on Saturday, November 1st for the first round of the AMCC Playoffs. The game begins at 2pm.
