Box Score Pittsburg, NY - Coming into the game winning three straight league games, the D'Youville Men's Soccer Team tied La Roche Saturday afternoon 1-1 in 2OT.
After a first half with no goals, La Roche opened up the scoring 15 minutes into the second half to make the score 1-0. The goal came off of a penalty kick in which junior goalkeeper Brett Matthews (Angola, NY/Lake Shore) made the initial save, but the rebound was put in the back of the net.
In the final minute of play, captain clutch made himself known again as sophomore Patrick Mann (Brighton, NY/Brighton) scored on a free kick to even the game at 1. The game then went to double overtime which both teams traded chances, but to no avail as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Mann led D'Youville in shots on goal with 3 and had 5 shots overall. Matthews mad 5 saves on 6 shots. As a team, the Spartans had 12 shots, 4 of which being on goal.
With his third goal in four games, Mann is now tied for the team lead in goals with 3, 2 of which were game winners.
