Marcy, NY- The Spartans won the first two sets in their first match of the day against Utica by the scores of 25-16 and 25-14. They then dropped the next three with scores of 25-11, 25-19, and 15-11.

Emily Milbrand (North Tonawanda, NY / North Tonawanda) led the team with 14 kills followed by Savannah Brayton (Queensbury, NY / Queensbury) with a career high 12 kills. Lara Svensson (Tonawanda, NY / Sweet Home) contributed 16 digs and Erin Pennington (Lyndora, PA / Butler) had a career high 5 service aces.

It was the second time this season the Spartans have dropped a five set decision after winning the first two games.

D'Youville salvaged the weekend with a four-set win over Wells College. Scores from the match were 25-17, 25-22. 21-25, 25-21.

Molly Minkiewicz (West Seneca, NY / West Seneca West)and Milbrand each had 11 kills. Kaylee Stewart (Wilson, NY / Wilson) was close behind with 10 kills. Alyssa Dueringer (Orchard Park, NY / Orchard Park)had 32 assists and 15 digs and Kayla Deth (Cheektowaga, NY / Holy Angels Academy) had 5 service aces and 15 digs.

Dueringer and Svensson were named to the All-Tournament Team.

D'Youville starts AMCC play this Wednesday, October 2nd with a 7pm match at Hilbert College. The Spartans are 8-11 overall.
