Altoona, PA- After playing a pair of home conference games yesterday, D'Youville took to road for another AMCC doubleheader. Today D'Youville played a pair at Penn State Altoona.
The Spartans offense managed just a pair of hits in the opener, singles by Brent Gibbs (Wayland, NY/Wayland-Cohocton) and Eric Simoncelli (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg), and lost 5-0.
Penn State Altoona scored their 5 runs in the first three innings. From there starter Gibbs held the Lions scoreless over the final three innings and gave up just 4 hits.
D'Youville opened scoring in the nightcap, Matt Wendling (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) scored on a throwing error in the first inning, but nothing else in a 12-1 loss.
The Spartans had 6 hits in game two. Kyle Taylor (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) had a pair of hits.
