Buffalo, NY-Visiting La Roche took two from D'Youville in an AMCC twin-bill played at Coca-Cola Field in downtown Buffalo.
The Redhawks took game one 19-2 and shutout the Spartans 3-0 in the nightcap.
D'Youville starter Anthony Oliveri (Wheatfield, NY-Niagara-Wheatfield) kept the La Roche lineup at bay for the first three innings, giving up just one run on one hit. The visitors eventually got to the Spartan pitching, racking 18 runs over the last four innings.
Kyle Taylor (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) had an RBI-single and Matt Veronica (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) drove in the other run. Eric Simoncelli (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) was 2-2.
In the second game D'Youville had opportunities but couldn't cash in and were stopped 3-0. The Spartans were 0-7 with runners in scoring position.
Jeff Spors (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore East) and Matt Wendling (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) each had a pair of hits for the Spartans.
"Playing at the stadium is the day we look forward to the most," said Spartan skipper Leo Dandes. "We would have love to left with a split against a very good La Roche team."
Prior to the start of the doubleheader, the team's two seniors, DJ Zanghi (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) and Brent Gibbs (Wayland, NY/Wayland-Cohocton) were honored.
D'Youville returns to action tomorrow in a non-conference doubleheader versus SUNY Canton. The games will played at Veterans Memorial Park in West Seneca, NY and the start time is 2:00 p.m.
