Box Score Buffalo, NY- Four seniors playing in their final collegiate match were honored before the start of tonight's season finale versus La Roche College.
Anna Campbell (Hamburg, NY/Frontier), Kayla Deth (Cheektowaga, NY/Holy Angels Academy), Molly Minkiewicz (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West), and Lara Svensson (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home) arrived on campus together in in 2010 and finished their time together as volleyball teammates.
Svensson collected a match-high 24 digs and Spartan's back row specialist finishes her career with 1,313 digs, good for third on the program's all-time list.
Deth had 17 digs, 3 kills, and 2 service aces. For the season the outside totaled 100 kills, 263 digs, and 20 service aces. All are single-season career highs.
Minkiewicz added 3 kills, 1 block, and 1 dig. This season the middle blocker had a single-season career-high 98 kills.
A great utility player that contributed at a number of positions during her four seasons, Campbell had 4 digs and 1 kill tonight and finished her career with 300 digs and 31 service aces.
"This was a special group that really helped turn the program around," said D'Youville Head coach John Hutton. "Our team really gives off a positive vibe now and they helped make it happen."
The Spartans were defeated in three sets tonight (25-17, 25-17, 25-19) and finished the season with a record of 9-18. It is the program's highest win total since 2009.
